Group Experiences With Luxury VolunTourism

Hello, I have been looking at your website for the past hour or so and have thoroughly enjoyed it! I am interested in this concept of “luxury voluntourism” and was wondering if you had any more companies that specialize in this niche. I liked the handsupholidays.com, but did not see many more sites like this.  I am interested more in group experiences rather than the luxury hotel stay options.  Thanks for your time!! I really appreciate it!

Dear P.D.,

Thank you for your email.

You might enjoy reviewing an article that I wrote about Chris Coyne and Scott Laughlin in The VolunTourist Newsletter entitled “Not-For-Profit-Only.” Based upon your query, having a discussion with either of these gentlemen might be a good start for you.

This being said, I think the first website to visit would be Heart & Passion. Chris Coyne launched this initiative several years ago and has united voluntourists with unique social organizations in a number of locations worldwide. These are high-end trips coupled with voluntary service projects like that of Irma Turtle and Turtle Will in Mali. You can also review some of Scott Laughlin’s thoughts on that particular trip on his blog: Vicionoti.com; he details some of his thoughts during and after the experience.

Another voluntourism outfit you may want to review is Relief Workers International. Alexander Souri, Founder of Relief Riders International, has re-modeled his original voluntourism itineraries that included horseback riding to utilize a more conventional approach of conveyance – Range Rovers. The effort to assist communities in Rajasthan is no less than before; in fact, it is more evolved in its effort to strive toward sustainability. Medical camps and eye surgery camps are the two prominent voluntary service efforts upon which Alexander and his team focus.

Finally, you may want to check-in with Cynthia Adkins, Founder of Concierge At Large. She has recently launched The Luxury Voluntourist Blog. Try reaching out to her to discover what other opportunities might be available worldwide.
